Paraplegia: WC to Supine

A

-T12
-tripod position; backward if body jacket
-Can use arms fully, might need assistance
-no maintenance of tenodesis
-use sliding board

  1. Breaks, remove foot rests and arm rests, put on gait belt
  2. Bring feet together
  3. Unweight to bring hip up and pull in slide board by protracting and depressing
  4. Use arms to pull up onto board and mainting trunk with sliding board
  5. Use wheel to push off while on board
  6. Slide back bringing legs onto table OR pull legs up w/ strap
  7. Bring body down with triceps

A
  1. Pt can hook to remove arm rests and foot rests and sliding board using tenodesis grip
  2. Use head hips relationship and hands to move on sliding board
  3. Use hooked arm for momemtum
  4. Use wheel to push off while on board
  5. Maintain forward tripod
  6. Scoot backward and bring head back and quickly down while pushing hips back
  7. Bring legs up
  8. Slowly bring body down

  2. Use UE momentum to swing into sidelying LOWER than head to prevent hitting face
  3. PT behind to assist propping on elbows
  4. Use army crawl method to reach sitting w/ PT supporting shoulders and assist weight shifts.
  5. Throw arm back using ER
  6. Sit close enough to maintain forwards tripod and bring legs down
  7. Scoot forward and bring head down and quickly up while pushing hips forward
  8. Repeat WC steps ^^ maintaining forwards tripod with locked out elbow

C6 Tetraplegia: WC to Supine

A
  1. remove arm rests and foot rests and sliding board using tenodesis grip
  2. Pt can hook to help with gait belt donning and forward movement in WC
  3. Use leg squeeze to put slide board under
  4. Use head hips relationship and hands to move on sliding board
  5. Use hooked arm for momemtum AND explain arm ER
  6. Use wheel/footrests to push off while on board (push with protractors)
  7. Explain arm ER Maintain forward tripod
  8. Scoot backward and bring head back and quickly down while pushing hips back (PT hands on outside of arms to stop unlocking elbow)
  9. Bring legs up
  10. Get behind Pt to assist with lying down
  11. Quickly lower one arm at a time by IR shoulder onto elbows
