Outline the steps involved in transcription
A
- DNA unwinds in the region of the gene to be transcribed
- RNA nucleotides are attracted to the exposed nucleotides of the gene due to base complementarity
- RNA polymerase constructs RNA from the nucleotides but forming phosphodiester bonds between nucleotides
- DNA reforms
- mRNA leaves the nucleus
