What is traditional media?
Also known as “old media” is the established or traditional means of mass communication.
Media that didn’t develop with the digital era are the ones most likely to be considered as traditional and part of a traditional media strategy.
What are types of traditional marketing media?
Direct marketing, outdoor, print, TV, and radio broadcast, and “word of mouth” referrals.
What is direct marketing?
Involves promoting and selling directly to end buyer from manufacturer with no other media owner involved.
E.g. letters, flyers, coupons, brochures, anything delivered to consumer’s mailbox or hand.
What is print media?
Advertising that uses physically printed media to reach consumers.
E.g. Newspapers, brochures, and magazine ads.
What is outdoor media?
Similar to print but on larger scale.
E.g. Billboards, bus stops and smaller placements.
What is broadcast media?
Known as on-air advertising.
Primary revenue generator for commercial television and radio stations.
E.g. film, TV, product placement, program sponsorship, etc.
What is referral marketing?
Involves promoting products or services to new customers through referrals, usually by word of mouth.
E.g. fidelity cards with vouchers and discounts for sponsorships.
