Traction - HCMT Flashcards
What are the cars in a HCMT set called?
Tc - Trailer cab
DMp - door motor pantograph
Mp1 - motor pantograph
DT - door trailer
Mp2 - motor pantograph
DMp - door motor pantograph
Tc - trailer cab
Which cars have pantographs?
DMp and Mp cars have pantographs (no 1 end)
What are the screens in the drivers cab?
Back up screen
Surveillance Display Unit (SDU)
Driver Machine interface (DMI)
Human Machine interface (HMI)
What does the SDU do?
Displays all CCTV camera feeds, including the stopping aid cameras and body side cameras
What does the HMI do?
Allows access to the TMS (Train Management System)
What does the DMI do?
Displays a digital speedometer
Displays high capacity signalling information (CBTC)
What are the levels of alerts displayed on the HMI?
How are they distinguished?
Level 1:
Audible tone (low high)
Flashing red message bar
Level 2:
Audible tone (high low)
Flashing yellow message bar
Level 3:
Steady yellow message bar
What are the isolating cocks within the brake control module?
Left to right (diagram):
1. Brake supply
2. Brake cylinder bogie 2
3. Brake cylinder bogie 1
4. Park brake (Mp, DMp, DT)/tread scrubber (Tc)
5. Sanding equipment
What are the isolating cocks underneath the coupler cover on a Tc Car?
Left to right:
1. Uncouple
2. Towing unit
3. Brake pipe
4. Main reservoir
5. Horn
What is the APS? What a housed within it and what cars are they on?
Auxiliary Power Supply
Holds:
Auxiliary inverter
Medium voltage (MV) box
Battery charger
Found on Tc and DT cars
What is contained within the High Voltage box? Where is it located?
High Speed Circuit Breaker (HSCB)
Harmonic Wave Detection Device (HWDD)
Found at the a side No.1 end of motor cars
What are the 3 loading types on a HCMT?
Permanent:
- loads that are always connected to the battery, regardless of active cab
Non-permanent:
- loads that only gain power when a cab is active
Emergency:
- loads that have power during emergency power situations (loss of overhead/battery system failure)
Which circuit breakers will cause a HCMT to fail when tripped?
- Cab activation
- Traction control
- Emergency brake loop power supply (both cabs)
- Brake control supply
How can the safety loop be reset?
Train stationary for 3+ seconds
Emergency brake application reset
Mc -max brake, reverser to neutral
What is the ASU? Where are they located?
Air supply unit:
Main air compressor
Air dryers
Filters
On the underside of Tc cars, b side
What are the operating pressures of a HCMT?
MR operating range = 850-1000 kPa
EMY brake = 280-460 kPa
Max brake = 250-380 kPa
Holding brake = 140-240 kPa
MR safety valve = 1050 kPa
MR Safety loop = 600 kPa
(+/- 20 kPa)
What is contained within the B06 & B07 cabinets? Where are they located?
