What day is the Weekly Operational Notice (WON) issued?

What must be done upon exploding ATW’s?
*Reduce speed
*Sound a long whistle
*Press the MAD button
*Look out for inner hand signaller and expect their hand signal to be at STOP
What does a YELLOW hand signal mean?
Who is it used by?
Will they place ATW’s if required?
*WARNING (yellow flag by day, yellow light by night)
*Used by OUTER hand signaller
*If required, they will place THREE ATW’s, 10 metres apart, on the rail, a sufficient distance from the point of work
What does a Green hand signal waved slowly side to side indicate?
CAUTION
*Must not exceed 25km/h
*If a lower speed is required they will stop you with a red hand signal, advise you of the speed, and then wave the green flag side to side
*Cannot speed up until a STEADY green flag is displayed
What does raising one arm horizontally or a white light at night indicate?
*All right
Will only be given when the group and person is clear of the track and in a position of safety
What does a steady green (flag or light) hand signal indicate?
A Red(flag or light)?
Green- Proceed
May resume track speed or the speed of the last signal
Red- Stop

UP end of Richmond
UP end of Jolimont
UP end of North Melbourne
The East and West Bypass lines between Southern Cross and Melbourne Yard

Outer= TWO SIGNALS in the rear of the works
Inner= 100m from the point of work
ATW’s are NOT used

(whichever comes first)
Inner= 200M from the point of work
Yes THREE ATW’s (10M apart) will be placed by the Outer hand signaller at their location

*2,000-4,000M from the works or
*THREE SIGNALS in the rear of the works or
*A Signal box
(whichever comes first)

What does a WARNING board look like?
Where is it placed?
YELLOW reflective board, fishtailed at both ends, with a RED W
(must slow to the speed indicated by the C board)
Placed 1200M before the point of work
What does a CAUTION board look like?
Where is it placed?
YELLOW reflective CIRCULAR board with a RED C
(Must be doing the speed indicated)
200M from the works
What does a Normal Short (NS) board look like?
Where is it placed?
WHITE with BLACK ‘NS’
(Trains under 200m may resume normal speed)
200m after the works
