why are TR models important ?
we use it as a blue print however, models are two-dimensional and static and practice is multifaceted and dynamic describe and explain what services do help unify profession guide for decision making .
Well -being
1-life - being able to live to he natural end of a human life
2- Bodily health - being able to have good health and adequate nourishment
3- Bodily integrity - being secure safe without fear of harm as one travels from place to place
4- senses- imagination and thought - being able to think, reason and imagine
5- Emotions - having opportunities to love and be loved and to experience a broad range of emotions
….
they might be a little changed for people with disabilities . because the might find other ways that they can contribute to society
Quality of Life
Degree to which a person enjoys the important possibilities of his/her life
being : who you are ( physical , psychological , and spiritual
belonging - connections with your environment ( physical: home, work - social ( friends ) community ( income, services employment .. )
Becoming - achieving personal goals hopes and aspirations ( practical domestic activities , work .. , leisure becoming ( activities that promote relaxation )
growth ( maintaining and improvement of knowledge and skills )
LEISURE Ability model
mission is leisure
to facilitate the development maintenance , and expression of an appropriate leisure lifestyle for individuals with physical mental emotional or social limitations
leisure is a need and a right
there are many constraints when it comes to leisure
TR > facilitate individuals’ independence in leisure
We want the Therapist to decrease their involvement and them to increase independence but sometimes this only happens to a certain extent .
Functional Intervention
Activities specifically meant to improve functional abilities ( or decrease functional limitations ) in physical , social ,cognitive and affective domains
there is an assumption that adequate functioning is a prerequisite for an independent leisure lifestyle
it is prescriptive and clients have little choice in activity.
baseline abilities that are a prerequisite to typical leisure behaviour that most individuals without disabilities would posses
LEISURE Education
the development and acquisition of skills , attitudes and knowledge related to leisure participation and leisure lifestyle development
assuming that they have functional skills :
4 areas : leisure awareness , social interaction , leisure activities skills , leisure resources
Recreation Participation
Clients receive activity based programs and services to provide opportunity to engage in structured groups recreation experiences for enjoyment and self expression
assumes clients had skills and knowledge necessary to participate
involvement not specific functional outcome
choice , interaction fun and enjoyment!
