More boys at the lower half of thw pyramif due to the fact 6 more boys than girls are born. However, at the top of the pyramid there will be more girls comoared to boys. This is due to the hangover from ww2, girls don’t smoke so less likely to die and also natural way lof life

Reasons for the ageing population
Better healthcare and standard of living - Japan has a health regime similar to the NHS. everyone is able to access it even poor people so people will live longer due to the quality of medical care
Low fat diets - Even though Japan is a HIC they have low cases of obesity and heart problems as their diet mainly revolves around fish and rice rather than mean and bread.
Women have access to an education and career so are less likely to have children - This could be due to the fact Japan has no major world religions so women are treeated fairly - less babies
Contraception is available and accessible - widely used people won’t have children
Cost of eductaion - Education is Japan is highly expenisve, so most people only choose to have one child from this factor

Cope with the ageing population
Rase Taxes - This will cover growing cost and will allow the ageing population to be cared for
Increase retiremnt age to 70 - The risk of the economy shrinking will be reduced and prevents dependency
Pro Natal Policies - Cash incentives will be given out to encouragae people to have more children
