Topic 9 Final Exam Flashcards
What are the three steps outlined for how actions are produced using a brain-machine
interface?
Step 1 – Read/Record brain activity
Step 2 - Use computer algorithm to
match recorded signals (brain activity) to
actions
Step 3 – Send interpreted signal to
effector (machine) to make the action
What is the difference between passive and active control of a prosthetic? What are examples
of these types of prosthetics?
Passive: like a hook, doesn’t move
Active: Body has to move to activate the prosthetic or signal needs to come from brain to contract a muscle to make the prosthetic move
How is the idea of internal models related to BMI’s? (Brain-Machine/computer interfaces)
sensory input to determine the motor command, and then has to determine how the robot will perform this command
