Identity theft is a crime where criminals
impersonate individuals, usually for financial gain. Thief’s can use it to commit fraud
A keylogger is a type of
surveillance software that has the capability to record every keystroke you make to a log file. This allows the keylogger a record of any details you type
Online fraud is the use of
the internet to defraud victims or to otherwise take advantage of them
Denial of Service Attacks are when a
network is flooded with useless traffic usually emails. This causes the network to stop working
With user IDs and Passwords, when a user logs on
the computer system checks their IDs and passwords, and tries to match them with those on file.
Encryption is the
encoding of data held on the system.
If data is encrypted and the network is hacked into it means the data
is meaningless to the hacker because they do not have the security key to unlock or decipher the encrypted data.
Biometric security involves storing data about
fingerprints, voices or people’s eyes on special smart cards.
Biometric security is widely used on
passport control areas in European and US airports
Security protocols is a way of making
access to a website more secure.
Security protocols are commonly used as a way of making
online payments (HTTP) secure.
