A website is a
collection of web pages
A webpage is an
individual document within a website
URL stands for
Uniform Resource Locator.
URL is the
address of a specific website of file on the internet.
A hyperlink is a
word, phrase or image that when clicked on take you to a new web page or a new section within the current web page
Internal Hyperlinks take you to
somewhere else within the same page or same website
External Hyperlinks take you to
an entirely different website.
Navigation is
how a user moves from one part of a web page to another.
Frames are
part of a webpage or browser window which displays independent content. So a BBC News frame inside a twitter page.
In web page design a sequence refers to
how navigation on a website is structured
Linear navigation is when
web pages can only be accessed in order, perhaps by topic or chronologically
Hierarchical navigation is when
web pages are organised into groups and subgroups and users “drill” down through categories or groups to get to specific pages or subgroups
Web navigation is when
users get to individual web pages using a number of routes.
