Decades of disputes and conflicts b/w Britain, France and their allies, especially in Ohio River Valley.

He created the Albany Plan of Union which was meant to unite the Colonies but was rejected because it was thought to be unecessary

It was a world wide conflict b/w Britain and France with their colonists, and indigenous allies

It was a document that stated all of France’s land in America is now Britain’s
What are the effects of the French and Indian War?
Britain gains a huge debt, colonists feel more independent, and France loses North America because of the 1763 Treaty of Paris
Why was the Proclamation of 1763 created?
British wanted to make the Indigenous happy so they could take over French trading relationships and to prevent the need to send soldiers to the western frontier.

It forbade settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains to prevent conflict w/ Indigenous

Colonists became angered and ignored / violated it.

George III wanted Colonists to pay off the debt of the French and Indian War
What did the Sugar Act do?
Reduced the tax on molasses and other goods, started serious enforcement for the tax.
What were the effects of the Sugar Act
Reduced rum production and trade with other countries, hurt the colonial economy, many Colonies resisted it, and the Boston Committee of Correspondence was created

Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Indians and dumped 340 crates of tea into the harbor. Many other cities had a tea party as well.

Satirical criticism by play writers, such as Mercy Otis Warren forced Parliament to punish Boston.
What was the definition of patriots before the Revolution?
The Patriots simply wanted a voice in parliament, they didn’t want to break away from Britain.

Colonial Assemblies called the First Continental Congress in Virginia and Patrick Henry gives his famous “Give me Liberty, or give me death!” speech.

Meeting in Philadelphia of delegates from the colonies which demanded the replacement of the Coercive Acts and organized militias. Georgia couldn’t participate due to being in war.

Thomas Jefferson’s instructions on what to do for the delegates made him famous and got him invited to the Second Continental Congress.

British were looking for weapons in Concord and colonists were warned by Paul Revere and others

It was the first shots of the Revolution, started at Lexington with ambushes all the way to Concord

Meeting of ALL 13 colonies and becomes the defacto government during the American Revolution
What were the effects of the Second Continental Congress?
Issued the Olive Branch Petition to ask the British for peace and prepared for war. They chose George Washington as the commander of the Continental Army.
