Topic 2.2- Bandura's Social Learning Theory Flashcards
What was his theory?
He believes that people learn by watching the behaviour of others, therefore if children were to watch an adult gaining pleasure or punishment for an activity, the child will repeat or reject the behaviour.
How did he conduct the theory?
The Bobo Doll Experiment:
Children were exposed to aggressive and a non aggressive adult.
Aggressive model- Adult hit a bobo doll
Non aggressive- a room without a model
They were viewed as to whether the children will recreate the aggressive behaviours
What did he find from his experiment?
He found that children who were exposed to the aggressive behaviour, tended to copy the behaviour. Children who watched the non- aggressive adults had far less aggression towards the bobo doll.
