Subinguinal hiatus femoral canal
subinguinal hiatus
subinguinal space, is an anatomical region located beneath the inguinal ligament.
Borders:
Superior: Inguinal ligament
Inferior: Superior ramus of the pubis
Medial: Lacunar ligament
Lateral: Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
The subinguinal hiatus is divided into three compartments by the iliopectineal arch (a thickened band of the iliopsoas fascia):
1.Lacuna musculo nervosa : iliopsoas muscle, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, and femoral nerve
2.Lacuna vasorum: femoral A & V (med)
3.Lacuna lymphatica / herniosa :lymph vessels & rossenmullers lymph nodes
femoral canal
virtual space from femoral ring to spahenous hiatus,Allows for the Expansion of the Femoral Vein: Particularly important during activities that increase venous return, such as exercise.
Pathway for Lymphatic Drainage: Channels lymph from the lower limb and genital region to the inguinal lymph nodes.
boundaries:
-Anterior: Inguinal ligament
-Posterior: Pectineal ligament (or Cooper’s ligament
-Medial: Lacunar ligament
-Lateral: Femoral vein
contents:
Lymphatic Vessels: Draining the deep inguinal lymph nodes.
Deep Inguinal Lymph Node (Cloquet’s Node): The most superior of the deep inguinal lymph nodes.
