1. Cell growth - cell grows in size and increases the amount of sub cellular structures
2. DNA replication + mitosis

What happens inside a cell during mitosis

1. DNA condenses from strands into chromosomes at centre
2. the chromosomes duplicate and now they become X shaped ,
3. one set of chromosomes is pulled to each end of the cell by cell fibres
4. they split and then a new nucleus forms and they each have 46 chromosomes now the chromosomes become I shaped
5. then the cell divides by the cytoplasm splitting and the cell membrane forming around each new cell and now 2 daughter cells are genetically identical to parent cells
