Heart Flashcards
Atriums are
in the upper part of the heart
Ventricles
Lower part of the heart
Characteristics and purpose of arteries
Transports blood away from the heart
Made of strong muscular and elastic walls because blood pumped at high pressure wider lumen for blood flow and have valves
Characteristics and purpose of capilleries
thin and small lumen to diffuse waste products and neutrients , permeable
, lower blood pressure for time for neutrients to diffuse
characteristics and purpose of veins
biggest lumen- low pressure , thinner walls less elastic and muscle , they have valves unlike the others , brings blood to the heart
blood path in the heart
. Blood enters the heart By pulmanory vein (left - Oxygenated ) and Vena Cava ( Right - deoxygenated) Into their Atriums
.The 2 atria contract , pushing blood into the ventricles , then they contract to push blood to the Pulmanory artery (right , to lungs) and the Aorta (to rest of the body)
