TOP COMMON DRUGS for ASTHMA Flashcards

1
Q

Asthma

A

a chronic lung disease that causes inflammation in the airways, making it difficult to breathe:
Symptoms;
coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and can come and go. When symptoms worsen, it’s called an asthma attack.

Triggers;
allergens, exercise, cold air, smoke, and intense emotions

Treatment:
There’s no cure for asthma, but treatments like inhalers can help control symptoms. Taking a preventer inhaler daily can reduce inflammation in the airways and make them less sensitive to triggers.

Types of asthma:
Asthma can be mild intermittent, mild persistent, moderate persistent, or severe persistent. The type of asthma is based on how often symptoms occur and how much they affect daily activities.
