Angina is
a condition where the heart muscle doesn’t receive enough oxygen and blood, chest pain or discomfort occurs
Usually caused by a partial blockage or spasm in the arteries that supply blood to the heart
Treatments:
Nitroglycerin, β-blockers, calcium channel blockers, and ranolazine
Other management:
Treating high blood pressure and cholesterol, healthy eating, weight loss, exercise, and not smoking
There are three types of angina;
Stable angina: The most common type, which occurs when the heart is working harder than usual. It has a regular pattern and is usually helped by rest and medicines.
Unstable angina: The most dangerous type, which doesn’t follow a pattern and can happen without physical exertion. It doesn’t go away with rest or medicine.
Variant angina: A rare type that happens when you are resting. Medicines can help
