How to tell if it is a central or lateral incisor?

A

Upper central incisor crown is more square.
Upper lateral incisor crown is more rounded

Lower central incisor, the cingulum is centred.
Lower lateral incisor, the cingulum is twisted to the distal.

How to tell if 1st of 2nd premolar?

A

Upper 1st premolar, occlusal groove have 2 sideway branch connected by a line (2 sideway peace signs), mesial marginal development groove crossing the mesial marginal ridge.

Upper 2nd premolar, more branches and more irregular.

Lower 1st premolar, 2 prominent pits. (Two pits next to each other.)

Lower 2nd premolar:
- If 2 cusps - groove will have a H shape or U shape.
-If 3 cusps - groove will have like a y shape without much prominent pits.

How to tell between 1st, 2nd and third molars?

A

Upper molars:
-1st upper molar - prominent DL cusp and a cusp of carabelli.
-2nd upper molar - less prominent DL cusp, usually absent cusp of carabelli.
-3rd upper molar - bulbous crown with converging roots and inconsistent occlusal anatomy, might still have open apices.
In general the roots become less flared from 1 to 3.

Lower molars:
-1st lower molar - has 5 cusps.
2nd lower molar - has 4 cusps.
-3rd lower molar - has bulbous crown with converging roots and inconsistent occlusal anatomy. Might still have open apices.
In general the roots become less flared from 1 to 3.
