What is the definition of a Hand Tool?
‘Any portable general purpose or STT hand tool, including test and measuring equipment’
What does STT stand for?

What is an issue centre?
A controlled storage facility from which hand tolls and or tool kits are issued for use on Air Systems or Equipment
What is a Tool Kit?
Any propriety or purpose-designed container holding an interrelated set of hand tools
What is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd section of a tool number?
1st - Station Identifier
2nd - Local Code (Tool Kit number)
3rd - Suffix Code (Only used when more than one fo the same tool is in use)
What are METS and what do they do?
Military Equipments Tool Solutions.
They produce and supply tool kits to the military.
What 2 things must all tool kits and lockable containers have?
- A contents list or equipment schedule
- A deficiency list
What are ITT’s?
Individual Tool Tallies, given to tradesman whenever a tool is required.
What are NRRT’s and why are they used?
Non-Routine Removable Tallies, used to show the temporary removal of a tool
What types of NRRT is there?
- U/S: Unservicable
- CAL: On calibration
- DET: On detachment
- LOAN: On loan to another unit at same station
When are tool checks carried out?
- At the beginning and end of every working day
- At the beginning and end of every working shift
- Randomly conducted by a tool custodian
