- Class 0: Liquid Petroleum Gases (LPG)
- Class 1: Products with a flashpoint of below 21 Degrees Celcius
- Class 2: Products which have a flashpoint of between 21 and 60 Degrees Celcius
- Class 3: Products with a flashpoint above 60 and including 100 Degrees Celcius
- Unclassified: Products with a flashpoint above 100 Degrees Celcius
What is the definition of Flashpoint
‘A Lowest temperature at which the application of a small flame causes the vapour above a petroleum product to ignite under prescribed conditions.’
What class 3 UN sub-categories are there for storing hazardous substances?
- 3.1: Low flashpoint group of liquids having a flashpoint below -18 Degrees Celcius
- 3.2: Intermediate flashpoint group of liquids having a flashpoint of -18 Degrees up to but no including 23 Degrees Celcius
- 3.3: High flashpoint group of liquids having a flashpoint of 23 Degrees Celcius up to and including 61 Degrees Celcius

- Approved fire resistant cabinets or bins constructed in accordance with BS476
- Marked with appropriate hazard warning signs
- The cabinet or lockers is to be cited in a designated area at least 3 metres away from working activities
