Cap line, waist line, base line, drop line
cap line
the uppermost horizonal guideline, it is for uppercase letters and letters that are ascenders
waist line
the general height of lowercase letters, between the cap line and base line.

What is Vertical guideline? What is the common height of capital letters?
Are light lines used to keep the letters uniformly vertical. 1/8 inch. Vertical guidelines are not used to space the letter but to keep them uniformly vertical.
