Isometrics, Perspective, and Oblique Drawing Flashcards
What is Isometric Drawing?
Came from the two words; Iso-equal and metrum- to measure. Consists of 3 axes, one of which is vertical and the other two drawn to the right and left angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal.
What is Oblique Drawing?
It resembles an Isometric drawing except that one face is parallel to the plane of projection, and the front is similar to the view as it would appear in a multi-view drawing. Two axes of an oblique drawing are always at the right angles to each other and the third or cross-axis maybe at any angle to each other and the third or cross the horizontal planes, 30 or 45 degrees are generally used.
What are the kinds of oblique drawing?
Cavalier and Cabinet
What is Cavalier?
Receding lines are drawn at angle of 45 degrees and are measured in their dimensions.
What is Cabinet?
Receding lines have been foreshortened one-half their actual size.
What is Perspective Drawing?
Is a pictorial view seen by the observer’s eyes. It is the representation of an object as it appears to an observer stationed at a particular position relative to the object. It is an approximate representation.
Anything we see is in fact a perspective view, true or false?
True
What is plane?
An imaginary flat surface which has length and width but no thickness. It may extend indefinitely in any direction.
What is Station Point (SP)?
Observer’s eye and not the point on the ground where the observer stands.
What is Picture Plane (PP)?
An imaginary vertical plane where the perspective view is assumed or imagined to be projected or drawn.
What is Horizon (H)?
The points where the figure appears horizontally at eye level.
What is Horizon Line?
The intersection of the horizon plane and the eye level.
What is Ground line?
The intersection of the ground plane with the picture plane.
What is Eye level (EL)?
An imaginary horizontal plane which is in level with observer’s eye and the horizon.
What is Axis of Vision?
Line through the station point that is perpendicular to the picture plane.
