Tissues: Muscle Flashcards
Muscle Tissue
specialized for contraction
Three Types
Skeletal
Cardiac
Smooth
Striated or nonstriated
banded or not banded
Striated types
skeletal and cardiac
Voluntary
skeletal
Skeletal Muscle Tissue
forms large body responsible for major body movements
(voluntary and multinucliated)
STRIATED VOLUNTARY and MULTINUCLIATED
Cardiac Muscle Tissue
found in the heart (classify by intercalated disc) = which strengthens bond of muscle
cells are called ‘Cardiocytes’
STRIATED INVOLUNTARY UNINUCLIEATE or BINUCLIATE
Smooth Muscle Tissue
walls of hollow organs that contract (blood vessels, urinary bladder, respiratory and digestive tracts)
-small, can divide and propels substances!
NONSTRIATED INVOLUNTARY SINGLE NUCLEUS
