Tissues Flashcards
Function of Connective Tissue
this tissue provides structure and support in the body.
Function of muscle tissue
is composed of differentiated cells containing myofibrils.
Function of nervous tissue
Composed of glial cells and neurones, this tissue coordinates and controls activities in the body.
Function of Epithelial tissue
this tissue lines the inside and the outside of cavities in the body. It has functions such as secretion, transcellular transport, sensation detection, protection, absorption and selective permeability.
Function of Adipose Tissue
It’s main role is to store energy. It also cushions and insulates the body.
Different types of connective tissue
Blood Cartilage Bone Areolar/Loose Adipose
Where do you find cuboidal Epithelial Cells?
Kidney Tubules
Sweat ducts
Glands e.g. thyroid
What are the different types of muscle?
Striated - Voluntary
Non Striated/Smooth - involuntary
Cardiac - involuntary
Where do you find compound (stratified) Epithelial Tissue?
Mouth
Tongue
Oesophagus
Vagina
