Function of the digestive system
To break down complex food into someone substances that can be absorbed into the blood stream

What is mechanical digestion
It involves action and movement for example the teeth chewing or the stomach churning.
What is chemical digestion?
The digestive tract releases chemicals of different rates of the process so food can become soluble and easily absorbed into the bloodstream.
Mouth
The incisors cut food
The canines hold and tear food
The Premolars grind soft food
The molars grind hard food

They contain enzymes
Taste buds
All taste buts can detect food but some prefer specific tastes to others
The tongue
They turn food into Bolus
The Oesophagus
The long tube situated between the mouth and the stomach
It is 26 cm long
They have ryhtmic movements called at peristalsis
