What does TIPS stand for?

It is an artificial channel within the liver connecting the higher-pressure inflow portal vein with the lower pressure outflow hepatic vein. The intrahepatic shunt is completed by placing a stent graft to maintain the liver tract between the portal vein and the hepatic vein.
