What are the differences between the two types of timbers

A

1) Softwood comes from coniferous trees.
They are EVERGREEN and have NEEDLE like LEAVES.
2) Hardwood come from deciduous trees.
They are BROAD-LEAFED and lose leaves over WINTER

Why are softwoods cheaper and lighter in colour than hardwood?

A

Softwoods grow faster and hence have lighter colour and are generally cheaper than hardwood.

Define and name advantages of manufactured boards.

A

Sheets of timber made by gluing either wood fibres or wood layers.
They can be made to a specified size and tend to twist or warp than natural timbers.

Why does wood have less environmental impact than other materials?

A

It is RENEWABLE so won’t replenish if we use it in a controlled manner. ORGANIC so so sutainable and helps REDUCING into CLIMATE CHANGE as it requires LESS ENERGY to MANUFACTURE it compared to other materials.
