What is green timber and how much moisture for interior furniture?
Green timber is when wood has moisture.
Furniture should have <10%.
Exterior should have <20%.
What are the two methods of cutting the logs?
Plain sawing and quarter sawing
What are their disadvantage and advantage.
Plain saw are CHEAPER and but tend to WARP
quarter sawing required skill, time and labour-hence more expensive- tend to warp less.
What is seasoning and what are the two processes?
The process to remove moisture in the wood.
Air seasoning and kiln seasoning
Advantage and Disadvantage of Kiln seasoning
1) Control the heat and pressure applied
2) quicker than air seasoning
