Hood canal current
Curent velocities can exceed 1.5kts, in some places in the canal the currents are too weak and variable to predict
Foul weather bluff and misery pt
Current velocities of .8kts, .5kts in southern portions of the canal. During periods of tropic tides the values can more than double
Pt hannon to hazel pt
Tide rips occur at times that can be sufficiently strong and can be troublesome to tugs with log tows
Foul weather bluff
At times heavy tide rips can form north of and around bluff that can be dangerous to small boats and break up log rafts. These can be especially heavy in ebb tides and north or northwest wind
East of hazel point
Midchannel east of hazel pt directions of flood and ebb vary considerably
Port gamble current
Strong current in flood(to the south) and ebb(to the north) in entrance channel. Dock against the current. Local knowledge is essential when docking at the port gamble lumber mill
Key port current
Strong current at the piers of the naval undersea warfare engineering station.
