Q

Words over gramar

A
  • the grammar will eventually fall into place (a gramática acabará se encaixando)
  • Nothing prevents (impede) you from occasionally reviewing grammar rules in a small grammar book.
  • That’s why at LingQ our number one measurable is how many words do you know (É por isso que, no LingQ, nosso principal parâmetro de medição é quantas palavras você conhece)
  • The emphasis should be on learning chunks (pedaços) of words in the form of phrases that we can easily reproduce.
  • Certainly, this is a good thing to do, but the phrases themselves consist of words so you still have to know what words mean and you can’t learn them in isolation (…, mas as frases em si consistem em palavras, portanto, você ainda precisa saber o que as palavras significam e não pode aprendê-las isoladamente)
  • you have to learn them from meaningful content (você precisa aprendê-las com conteúdo significativo)
  • not only do I capture all the phrases where that word occurs (ocorre)
  • it will be highlighted (destacado) in yellow
  • which is nothing other than a description of correct usage (que nada mais é do que uma descrição do uso correto)

Q

Words over gramar

A
  • and even if you were able (conseguisse) to learn the rules, which I think is very difficult to do without a sufficient amount of input (o que acho… sem uma quantidade suficiente de informação)
  • if you didn’t have enough of a vocabulary to follow a conversation in a particular area or to express your ideas then you would not be able to say very much (Se você não tivesse vocabulário suficiente para acompanhar uma conversa em uma determinada área ou para expressar suas ideias, não conseguiria dizer muita coisa.)
  • On the other hand, if you have a large vocabulary you will be surprised (Por outro lado,…, ficará surpreso)
  • Especially if you’ve seen (viu) these words in different phrases
  • Some people like to use flashcards and there’s Anki, SuperMemo and other such methods out there (semelhantes)
  • As I said in a previous video, as much as possible I will try to read what I’m listening to and listen to what I’m reading (Como eu disse em um vídeo anterior, tentarei, na medida do possível, ler o que estou ouvindo e ouvir o que estou lendo)
  • I will also focus on one author during a particular (específico) period or on one subject (temática) area, which might be politics, history or economics.
  • What this does is it insures that a certain range of words appear more frequently. (Isso garante que um determinado conjunto de palavras apareça com mais frequência)
  • If I am listening to current event interviews (entrevistas sobre eventos atuais), then I become very familiar with that vocabulary.
  • so that I get enough repetition so that I can accumulate my vocabulary (para que eu tenha repetição suficiente e possa acumular meu vocabulário)
  • so there you have it secret (Então, aí está o segredo)
focus on words and the rest of it will fall into place (se encaixará)

  • I’ll buy a quality audio book rather than rely on LibriVox where the quality can be uncertain (comprarei um audiolivro de qualidade em vez de confiar no LibriVox, onde a qualidade pode ser incerta)
  • All I’m saying is don’t think you can do everything for free, you may end up spending more time trying to work around or using less than satisfactory tools (O que estou dizendo é que não pense que pode fazer tudo de graça, pois você pode acabar gastando mais tempo tentando contornar ou usando ferramentas menos satisfatórias)
  • So whatever your budget is, make sure you have the proper tools (Portanto, seja qual for o seu orçamento, certifique-se de ter as ferramentas adequadas)
  • If that’s good enough, fine, but if you have to spring for $5 to get… (Se isso for suficiente, tudo bem, mas se você tiver que desembolsar US$ 5 para obter)
  • We’ve got one more secret to go (Temos mais um segredo para contar)
