Think Developmentally Flashcards
The most important thing we have to decide when working with kids
whether there is a developmental window in which teaching the skills will be most effective
developmental perspective
incorporating what is known about typical speech and language development when making decisions about what to teach and how to teach it to children with disabilities
typically developing children learn speech and language within
the milieu of everyday interactions between the child and caregiver, teachers, siblings, and peers

what is that

appropriate to teach a particular goal using a particular approach
we can lose sight of the fact act what may be appropriate developmental approach in a 6 year old with disabilities
may not be appropriate in any preschooler, whether typically developing or not
we should also consider how TD children
do not learn
TD children learn without
the benefit of these largely untested treatment that are often used with those with disabilities
these test might look liked they are providing results because
nearly all children will show sone degree of spontaneous or untreated growth
it is required that at test show what to be reliable
significant gains over what is expected with spontaneous recovery
studies indicate that targeting what three things during speech and language intervention is associated tis significant gains in diverse groups of children with disabilities
