Rectus Femoris

A
  • Quadricep (front)
  • Crosses hip and knee joint
  • Originates from anterior iliac spine, AIIS (pelvis) and acetabulum (hip)
  • Inserts onto patella through quadricep tendon which attaches to tibial tuberosity
  • Knee extension, hip flexion

A
  • Quadricep (largest) lateral side of thigh
  • Originates from greater trochanter of femur and lateral lip of line aspera
  • Inserts into the patella through quadricep tendon
  • Extension of knee

  • Originates from anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
  • Inserts onto medial surface of tibia

  • Originates from tensor fasciae latae muscle and gluteus maximus
  • Inserts onto lateral condyle of tibia
