Target: IL-2 receptor on T cells
Used in kidney transplant rejection prophylaxis
Side effects: Edema, hypertension, tremor
Bevacizumab
Target: VEGF
Used in colorectal cancer and renal cell carcinoma
Cetuximab
Target: EGFR
Used in stage IV colorectal cancer
Rituximab
Target: CD20 on B cells
Used in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas, rheumatoid arthritis (along with MTX) and immune thrombocytopenia
Trastuzumab
Target: HER2/neu receptor
Used in HER2+ breast cancer
Infliximab / Adalimumab
Target: TNF-alpha
Used in inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriasis
*Always do PPD test first; anti-TNF activity can re-activate latent TB
Abciximab
Target: Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa on platelets
Used as anti-platelet therapy for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Denosumab
Target: RANKL
Used in osteoporosis; inhibits osteoclast maturation
Omalizumab
Target: IgE
Used in allergic asthma
Palivizumab
Target: RSV F protein
Used as RSV prophylaxis in high-risk infants
Natalizumab
Target: alpha4-integrin (involved in leukocyte adhesion)
Used in Multiple Sclerosis and Crohn’s Disease
*Risk of PML in patients with JC virus
Epoetin alfa (erythropoietin)
Used to treat anemias, especially in renal failure
Thrombopoietin
Used to treat thrombocytopenia
