What is Susan Harter’s Model of Self-Esteem?

A

Her model suggests that our self-esteem is related to how close our self-image and ideal-self are.

Q

What is Cooley’s Looking Glass Theory?

A

It suggests self-image is developed in response to how adults and other children react to the child.

Practitioners need to develop strong and nurturing relationships with the children.

They have to ensure that settings are happy places where adults are positive about the children and their families.
