how did brown and Clarke (2006) define thematic analysis?
as a method for identifying, analysing and reporting patterns within data.

familiarise yourself with the data

generate initial codes (highlight) usually a word/ short phrases and is done systematically.

searching for themes

reviewing and refining themes.
-2 levels:
1. reviewing at the level of the coded data: reread data extracts.
2. reviewing at the level of themes: look at each theme in relation to your data corpus.
what is step 5 of thematic analysis?
define and naming the themes.
conduct and write a detailed analysis of each theme, asking questions.
create an overall narrative.
officially name the themes-name must be short and informative.
produce and finalised thematic map and be able to describe it in a couple of sentences.
what is step 6 of thematic analysis?
produce the report.
