1874 - to turn Republicans out of office, intimidate freedmen from voting, restore the white Southern Democratic rule and close the Freedmen’s Bureau

They operated in the open and submitted manifesto for publication. Disrupted court sessions, held rallies, rode around voting places with shot guns and tried to overthrow the Government in Orleans

What happened between them and colleagues of Marshall Twitchell?
A
They rounded up the family of Twitchell and other Republicans and demanded they resigned. They agreed but were still held prisoners and all 6 were executed
