White law enforcement officers disrupted a gathering of black farmers at a small church and resulted in a white officer dying

Soldiers tried keeping order of the violence. Many blacks kept in detention

Struggles in labor as they were in debt and prevented from leaving due to intimidation. AAs had a new spirit of confidence
What happened after?
12 sentenced to death but an AA lawyer helped them fight for justice and received assistance from the NAACP.. The rest of the condemned men were set free
What happened one month after conviction?
Eleven black men were convicted for murder in connection with three white deaths. All eleven were sentenced to the electric chair
