The Water Cycle Flashcards
What are the four main processes in the Water Cycle?
Evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection
What has to happen to water to make it evaporate?
It must heat up.
Is the following statement true or false, and if it is false give a reason:
Rain is the only form of precipitation
FALSE
Precipitation can also be snow, sleet or hail.
Is the following statement true or false, and if it is false give a reason:
Precipitation will occur when clouds get very thick and heavy from moisture
TRUE
How are clouds formed?
By water vapour condensing as it rises into colder parts of the sky.
In the Water Cycle, where does the heat come from the causes water to evaporate?
The Sun.
What are the stage of the Water Cycle?
- Water from the sea, lakes and rivers evaporates due to the heat of the sun.
- The water vapour rises, when it is high enough cools to form clouds.
- Once the clouds are heavy enough with condensed water, the water falls to the ground as precipitation.
- The water is collected by oceans, river, lakes etc.
