The Water Cycle Flashcards
Evaporation
The heat causes water vapour to rise into the atmosphere
Condensation
The water vapour cools and condenses into water droplets, which gather together to form clouds
Precipitation
Once the water droplets become too heavy for the clouds to hold, they are released as rain into low warm areas, and snow in high cold areas
Surface water
Some rain falls onto land, and runs back into the ocean through rivers and streams
Throughflow
Some water sinks into the soil. This is called infiltration the water then moves through the soil to the bottom of the slope. This is called throughflow
Groundwater
Some water moves into rock. This is called percolation. The water moves through the rock to the bottom of the slope as groundwater.
Transpiration
Water vapour also evaporates from the damp and is released by leaves on to trees and plants
What is the order of the 7 things that happen in the water cycle?
1.evaporation
2.condensation
3.precipitation
4. surface water
5. Through flow.
6. Groundwater.
7. Transpiration.
