Migration is the movement of people from one place to another usually involving a change in address
What does emmigrants mean
E means to exit a country
What does immigrants mean
Are people who arrive in a place
What is a reason for migration
Some poeple choose to migrate e.g someone who moves to another country for better job opportunities
What is a refugee
Some people are forced to migrate e.g someone who moves away from their home region due to war or famine
What is the definition of a push factor
Push factors are the reasons why people move away from an area e.g what pushes them away
What are pull factors
Pull factors are the reasons why people move to a particular area I.e what pulls them to a place
E.g of push factors
-high crime
-flooding
-crop failure
-poverty
-drought
-war
List some Pull factors
-high employment rate
-more wealth
-safer , less crime
-more fertile
-better services
-good climate
-low risk of natural hazards
Impact of migration
Migration will have an impact on the place that the migrant has left
Migration will also have impact on the place the migrant goes too
The affects will be positive or negative for both places
What is international migration
This is the movement of people from one country to another
What is temporary migration
This occurs when the people move to work from a particular length of time before returning home. They generally send the money home to there family’s.
What is rural to urban migration
From the country side to the city or or towns
The internal migration is
The movement of people to diffrent areas within the same country
What is forced migration
When a person is forced to evacuate there country e.g war, famine, crime,
