The Third Day of Creation Flashcards
Land (3rd year)
Heb. “Erets” is a singular word which means land, dirt (or figuratively matter).
Dry Land (3rd year)
Many feel that this was one large single continent (Gen. 10:25, 11:8).
In 1912 Alfred Wagner proposed that primeval earth was one continent that drifted apart along the tectonic plates. Scientists of his day laughed at him.
Green plant life and fruit bearing trees were created. (3rd Day)
- Notice that this is 24 hrs. before the sun was created.
- How do plants produce their food?
- Photosynthesis - leaves are plants food factories, they produce glucose through the process of photosynthesis
- Without sunlight most plants would wither and die within a week.
Comparison of Creation & Evolution
●Earth created before sun & stars ●Earth 1st covered w/water ●Oceans 1st then dry land ●Life 1st created on land ●Plants created before sun ●Land animals created after birds ●Whales created before land animals
●Stars & Sun evolve before Earth ●Earth 1st molten rock ●Dry land evolves before oceans ●Life starts in oceans ●Plants evolve long after sun ●Land animals evolved before birds ●Land animals before whales
Fossil Evidence (The Flood of Noah)
The flood is the most reasonable cause for the formation of fossils & of the fossil records. All land life would have died & many of the marine life in a flood of this magnitude. God’s design for the ark was planned for stability, not for travel, all the ark needed was to stay afloat.
Fossil Evidence (Examples)
●Horsetail reeds normally grow 3 ft. high, fossils have been found that horsetail reeds were over 50 ft. tall
●Dragonflies normally have a 4 inch wingspan, fossils have been found with dragonflies 3 ft. wingspans.
●Fossil of palm leaves found in Northern Canada
●Fruit Trees have been found frozen with the fruit still on them in the New Siberian Islands
●Some catastrophic event must have occurred to cause these things to freeze so rapidly.
Fossil evidence
With time & observation, it has become clear that geologic transformations result more from natural disasters than gradualism or drop by drop, grain by grain processes. Concrete doesn’t require millennia to harden; neither do sediments.
