The Theory of Evolution Flashcards
What did Richard Dawkins say about this theory?
A modern day scientist who believes evolution has no place for God or God’s plan. It is genes that change and adapt, not entire species. These gene changes can be positive or sometimes negative to an individual.
What did Charles Darwin say about this theory?
First put forward the theory of evolution when he focused
on finches and noticed that their beaks were different depending on the type of food that was available to them .These variations within the species allowed those birds to survive where they were living. He concluded that gradual changes take place in animals and plants over millions of years depending on their environment.
What are 2 pieces of evidence to support this theory?
“It is not the strongest species that survive, but the ones that are responsive to change.”- Charles Darwin
‘“Natural selection has “no purpose in mind” - Richard Dawkins
How does belief in this theory change someone’s life?
Catholic Christians accept the theory of evolution as they believe it is the way that God chose to create humans according to His plan. This means that Catholics would support science as a wav to learn more about the world that God has made.
