Unable to control faction. Unable to lead army into battle. Expected to marry causing problem of who to marry and having to be subservient to husband - resulting in husband dominating court.

Would bring England closer to Hasburgs. 7 December 1553 marriage treaty put forward and confirmed by Jan. Led to Wyatt rebellion.
Devise in 1553 (4 things)
Original succession act changed to exclude Mary in devise of May 1553 and have LJG as heir. Evidence done under Northumberland as would preserve power. However under Ed as wanted to preserve Protestantism. Mary escaped to East Anglia. After Edward died 6 July - Mary claimed herself legitimate queen as LJG rebellion collapsed.

1)Group disliked Somerset’s methods and policies. Paget - ignored. Warwick - wanted more power. Wriothesely - religion. 2) Somerset retreated to Hampton Court and then Windsor. However Edward claimed he was prisoner. Somerset removed. 3) Further plotting led to execution on 22 Jan 1552.

Over Mary’s marriage and heresy laws. April 1554 - laws rejected until monastic land restored - down to factional struggle of both men. However able to put aside differences to rule.
