The distinct separate beliefs about oneself that form the self-concept

self-schematic is an important specific trait to them and makes up a larger part of their self-concept.
the specific trait is not important to them and makes up a smaller part of their self-concept
What is self-concept clarity?
the extent to which self-schemas are clearly defined and consistent with each other over time.
What is the multiple-role theory?
more roles = more chance for growth opportunities, better well-being.

what is contingent self esteem?
person’s subjective appraisal of the self as intrinsically positive or negative

social identity theory definition:
part of individual self-concept derived from knowledge of a social group together with a value and emotional significance attached to that social group.
what is self-perception theory?
people learn about themselves by examining their own thoughts and behaviours.
what is self-discrepancy theory?
theory that focuses on peoples perceptions of the discrepancies between self and actual self. theory examines emotional responses to these discrepancies.

theory thhat people have two different self regulatory systems -
promotion = people are more approach-orientated in construction the self
prevention = more avoidant in constructing the self
