Q

What is the painful arc and what ranges cause pain?

A

Patient will display pain in shoulder abduction from approx. 80°-120°. In this range, the bursa is being pinched between the humeral head and the acromial arch.

Q

What has to occur to cause biceps tendonitis?

A

Shoulder flexion causes the long head of the biceps to to become inflamed within the bicipital groove. Will result in a positive Speed’s test

Q

What must be considered when rehabbing rotator cuff injuries?

A

Avoiding muscle imbalances in the shoulder by training all RC muscles equally as well as the trapezius, rhomboids and lateral rotators. Focusing on eccentric movements will be very beneficial.

Q

What is Frozen Shoulder and its characteristics?

A

Adhesive capsulitis. Cause is unknown but typically occurs in older population, or with pre-existing conditions like diabetes, thyroid problems and smoking.

Will be painful in all ranges, as all aspects of GH ligaments are affected. Naturally resolves in 18-24 months.
