Important role in Scottish reformation
What is the Counter Reformation?
The response of the Roman Catholic Church.
What was the council of Trent?
Council of church leaders which restated Catholic beliefs + removed old abuses
What was a pilgrimage?
A journey to a holy place
What was the inquisition?
Used to punish heresy. Famous for torture and persecution , dominant for more than 200 year. Resulting in 32000 persecutions
What were the jesuits?
Used to carry out missionary work and the main goals were to educate people about Catholicism and stop the spread of Protestantism
What was excommunication?
To remove someone from the RC church. You will go straight to hell when you die.
