Q

What is bioleaching?

A

Bacteria is used to seperate metals from their ores, as the bacteria get energy from the bonds between the atoms in the ore which seperates the metal from the ore.

Q

What is phytoextraction?

A

Growing plants in soil that contains metal compounds. The plants can’t use or get rid of the metals so they gradually build up in the leaves. The plants can then me harvested, dried and burned and the ash will contain the metal compounds.
