Strong and Weak acids (Paper 1) Flashcards
1
Q
What is the difference between a strong acid and a weak acid?
A
Strong acids ionise almost completely in water (they tend to have pHs around 0-2) whereas weak acids do not fully ionise in solution (they tend to have pHs around 2-6)
2
Q
What does the concentration of an acid measure?
A
How much acid there is in a litre of water
3
Q
What is a concentrated acid?
A
An acid with a large number of acid molecules compared to the volume of water
4
Q
What is a dilute acid?
A
An acid with a small number of acid molecules comapred to the volume of water
