Dynamic equilibrium (Paper 1) Flashcards
What 3 things can change the position of equilibrium?
-Temperature
-Pressure
-Concentration
What will happen to the equilibrium if temperature is decreased?
The equilibirum will move in the exothermic direction to produce more heat.
What will happen to the equilibrium if temperature is increased?
The equilibirum will move in the endothermic direction to absorb extra heat
What will happen to the equilibrium if the pressure is increased?
The equilibrium will move towards the side that has fewer moles of gas to reduce pressure.
What will happen to the equilibrium if the pressure is decreased?
The equilibirum will move towards the side that has more moles of gas to increase pressure.
What will happen to the equilibrium if the concentration of the reactants is increased?
The equilibirum will move to the right to use up the reactants (making more products).
What will happen to the equilibrium if the concentration of the products is increased?
The equilibirum will move to the left to use up the products (making more reactants).
What will happen to the equilibrium if the concentartion of the reactants is decreased?
The equilibirum will move to the left to use up the products (making more reactants).
What will happen to the equilibrium if the concentration of the products is decreased?
The equilibirum will move to the right to use up the reactants (making more products).
