What happens to the ending of irregular verbs in the subjective form?
The -o changes to an -a. (vengo - venga)
What happens to verbs ending in -car, -gar, and -zar in the present subjective form?
- Change the -ca to -qu and drop the -r. (sacar - saque)
- Change the -ga to -gu and drop the -r. (jugar - juegue)
- Change the -zar to a -c (almorzar - almuerce)
What happens to the -ar and -er stem changing verbs in the present subjective form?
They have the same stem change as they do in the present indicative form. (pensar (e:ie) - piense); mostrar (o:ue) - muestre)
What happens to the -ir stem changing verbs in the present subjective form?
They have the same stem change as the do in the present indicative, but in addition the nosotros/as and vosotros/as form s undergo a stem change.
- The unstressed e changes to i, while the unstressed o changes to u. (pedir (e:i) - pidamos, pidáis); (sentir (e:ie) - sintamos, sintáis); (dormir (o:ue) - durmamos, durmáis)
